What began as a routine verification check has now turned into a full-blown controversy, raising questions about how such high-profile names managed to enter a list meant for cross-verification and correction.
Where did their names appear?
According to the records, Amitabh Bachchan’s name appears in the voter list of Khushipura, outside the Orchha Gate area, with a clearly marked house number 54. The list also claims that the actor, who is currently 82, is listed as 76 years old and even cast a vote in 2003.
What startled officials even more was the reaction from neighbours. When a news channel visited the area, locals said, “We have seen Amitabh Bachchan only in films.” No one living there had ever seen the actor in person, let alone known him as a resident.
How did the duplicate house number deepen the mystery?
A report by Dainik Bhaskar revealed an even stranger detail. The same house number, 54, was already allotted to another resident, Surendra Kumar (76), son of Rajesh Kumar. Both names appear back-to-back on the list, at serial numbers 543 and 544.
However, the biggest twist came when authorities visited the location. There was no house at number 54 at all, the spot was a temple. With this discovery, confusion within the department intensified………………
The emergence of these names has triggered an uproar. Officials have demanded a thorough investigation into how incorrect entries were made and why the verification mechanism failed to catch such glaring inconsistencies earlier.
