மதுரையில் காந்தி ஜெயந்தி, காமராஜ் 70-வது பிறந்த தின விழா இரண்டும் ஒன்றாகக் கொண்டாடப்பட்டது. மக்கள் வெள்ளம் சித்திரைத் திருவிழாவின்போது இவ்வளவு திரளுமா என்று எனக்குத் தெரிய வில்லை. கும்பமேளா மாதிரி இருந்தது.
ஒர் எதிர்க் கட்சிக்கு, இந்தியா முழுவதும் சரிந்து போன இந்தப் பழைய காங்கிரஸுக்கு இங்கே மக்கள் மத்தியில் இவ்வளவு செல்வாக்கு இருப்பதற்குக் காரணம் காந்திஜி கூட அல்ல; திரு. காமராஜரே என்று எனக்குப் புரிகிறது. இது காமராஜருக்கும் புரிந்திருக்க வேண்டும். அதனால்தான் அவரது விழாப் பேச்சின்போது ‘இந்த விழா தேசப் பிதாவின் பிறந்த நாள் விழா. என் பெயரிலும் கொண்டாடப்படுகிறது’ என்று மிகவும் தன்னடக்கத்துடன் கூறினார் காமராஜர்.
இந்த மக்களின் ஆர்வமும் எழுச்சியும், தூய்மையான எளிமையான காந்தியத்தின்பால் திரும்ப வேண்டும் என்பது காமராஜ் அவர்கள் மனத்தின் உட் கிடக்கை என்று எனக்குப் புரிந்தது.
திரு. காமராஜ் தமது பேச்சில், நாம் காந்தியப் பாதையை விட்டு விலகி வந்ததுதான் நமது துன்பங்களுக்கும், தேசிய வாழ்வில் ஏற்பட்டுள்ள அவலங்களுக்கும் காரணம் என்று அடிக்கடி குறிப்பிட்டு வருகிறார். காந்தியப் பொருளாதாரக் கொள்கையை நாம் கை விட்டு விட்டோமே என்று கூட அவர் வருந்தினார்.
அந்த விழாவில் நானும் கலந்து கொண்டு, திரு. காமராஜை மனம் திறந்து பாராட்டி எனது வாழ்த்துகளைத் தெரிவித்துக் கொண்டேன். இத்தனை லட்சம் மக்கள் இவர் மீது நம்பிக்கை கொண்டிருக்கையில், அரசு, அதிகாரம், பதவி என்கிற இன்றைய அரசியல் மாயைகளிலிருந்து மக்களை விடுவித்து ‘என்னிடம் வாருங்கள்- உங்களுக்கு ரட்சிப்பு உண்டு’ என்று அழைத்துக் கொண்டு காந்திய வழியில் இவர் செல்ல வேண்டும் என்று எப்போதும் நான் கூறி வருகிற வேண்டுகோளை அங்கேயும் விடுத்தேன்.
அந்த மக்களையும் அவர்களது உற்சாகத்தையும் பார்த்தபோது நான் உணர்ச்சி வசப்பட்டுப் போனேன். எந்தத் தனி மனிதனின் பேராலும் இதுபோல் இன்று மக்களைத் திரட்ட முடியாது என்பதை நான் கண்டறிந்தேன். விழா மிகச் சிறப்பாக, மிகப் பிரும்மாண்டமாக நடந்தேறியது! இவற்றுக்கெல்லாம் மூலகாரணரான திரு. ப. நெடுமாறனைப் பார்த்த போது அக்காலத்தில் காந்திய நெறியில் ஒரு தொண்டராகக் காமராஜ் இப்படித்தான் சேவை புரிந்திருப்பார் என்று எனக்குத் தோன்றியது. – இது ஒரு பக்கம்.
இன்னொரு பக்கம் இந்த விழா என்னை இது பற்றி நிறையவே யோசிக்க வைத்தது. இப்படியொரு கும்பலைக் கூட்டி தமது பலத்தையும் மக்கள் மத்தியில் தங்களுக்கிருக்கிற ஆதரவையும் காட்டுவதற்கும் தாங்ளே உணருவதற்கும் தமிழ் நாட்டில் உள்ள காங்கிரஸ் கட்சிக்கு இது ஒர் அரசியல் அவசியமாக இருக்கலாம். ஆனால் இப்படியொரு திருவிழாக் கூட்டத்தை வைத்துக் கொண்டு காந்திய வழியில் காந்திய வழியில் செல்லுவது எங்ஙனம்?
மகாத்மா காந்தியடிகள் இது மாதிரியான விழாக்கைளையோ, பெருந்திரளான கும்பலையோ நம்பியதில்லை. அப்படி நடப்பதை அவர் தவிர்த்தே வந்திருக்கிறார். அவர் ஒவ்வொரு தனி மனிதனையும் நேரிட சந்திக்காமலே அவனிடம் ஆத்ம ரீதியான தொடர்பு கொண்டார். மனிதர்களைக் கும்பலாகத் திரட்டி அதை ஒரு பலமாகக் காட்டுவது அரசியலில் வன்முறைக்கு வழிவகுக்கும் என்று அவர் அஞ்சினார். எதிரியை மிரட்டுகின்ற ஒரு முறை என்று அதனை அவர் அறிந்திருந்தார். மகாத்மா செல்லுமிடமெல்லாம் மக்கள் வந்து அவரைத் தரிசிப்பர். அவரிடம் வந்து கூடுவர். அங்கே அவர் மக்களுக்கு மனச் சாந்தியும் ஆன்மிக ஒழுக்கமும் ஏற்படுத்த பிரார்த்தனையும், பஜனும் செய்வார். எனவே அது கும்பல் அல்ல.
கும்பலைத் திரட்டித் தமது பலத்தைக் காட்டுவதே வன்முறை அரசியலாரின் வழியாகும். அதுவும் வரைமுறையற்ற கும்பல் கூட்டியவர்களின் விருப்பத்துக்கு மாறாகவே வன்முறை வழியில் திரும்பிவிடும்.கூட்டியவர்கள் பொறுப்பிலிருந்து ஒதுங்கிக் கொள்ளவே நேரிடும். ஜனநாயகத்தின் பேரால் பாசிஸ்டுகளும், கம்யூனிஸ்டுகளும், இன்று இந்தியாவில் பரவிவரும் சுயநல அரசியல் வாதிகளும் இந்த முயற்சியில் நிறையவே இறங்கி ஆதாயமும் அடைந்திருக்கின்றனர்.
கும்பல் எப்போதும் கொக்கரிக்கும்; எந்த நேரமும் எந்த விடத்திலும் ஏதேனும் ஒரு காரணம் கண்டு அது அணை உடைத்துப் பாய்வதற்கு மோதிக் கொண்டேயிருக்கும். அதனைத் திருப்திப் படுத்துவதற்கே தாம் அதை விடவும் பெருங்குரல் கிளப்பி அதை உற்சாகப்படுத்தியாக வேண்டும். இதனைப் பார்க்கையில் சாத்தியத்துக்கும் இம் முயற்சிகளுக்கும் சம்பந்தமாவது ஏற்படுத்த முடியுமா என்பது எனக்குச் சந்தேகமாயிருக்கிறது.
காந்தியம் என்பது ஒது சித்தாந்தம் மட்டுமல்ல, அது ஒரு நடைமுறை. அது ஒரு மார்க்கம். காந்திஜி தனது லட்சியமாகவும், தனது வழியாகவும் தானே வாழ்ந்தார். அந்த ஒரே வழியை விடுத்து வேறு வழிகளில் அதனை அடைய முடியாது.
இன்றுள்ள ஆட்சியின் மீதும், மதுரையில் அண்மையில் நடந்த ஆளுங்கட்சியினர் நடத்திய விழா மீதும் கொண்ட அதிருப்தி-அல்லது அதற்கு நிகரான பலப்பரீட்சை என்கிற எதிர்மறை உணர்ச்சிகளே இந்தக் கட்டத்துக்கே காரணம் எனின் தலைவர் காமராஜ் அதற்காகப் பெருமகிழ்ச்சி அடைய முடியாது.
சரி. ஏதோ அவசியம் கருதி – அரசியல் கருதி – இந்தக் கூட்டத்தை நாம் கூட்டியிருக்கலாம். ஆனால் இதுவே காங்கிரஸின், காந்தியத்தின், காமராஜின் லட்சியமாகி விட முடியாது; கூடாது!

The Annamalai factor in Tamil Nadu is an interesting study in TN Politics.
The young IIM and Retired IPS, Annamalai has started shaking the roots of two Dravidian Parties in Tamil Nadu. A person from an agricultural background who passed from IIM – Lucknow, with distinction and served as one of the top notch IPS officer in Karnataka belongs to TN and at Present is the State President of BJP.
From the date of assumption of his office as State BJP President of TN, he is giving a run for all the misdeeds of DMK Government and was also telling AIADMK leaders not to act as a big brother to BJP but treat them as equals in state politics.
The Present CM of Tamil Nadu while getting up from his bed everyday prays to God that there should be no allegation on my Government or my Ministers from Annamalai. The CM is aware that Annamalai doesn’t talk nonsense and whatever he speaks he says with documentary evidence and it is not just barking. From the leaked tape of PTR on the financial affairs of CM’s son and son in law till Senthil Balaji all have been proved with documentary evidence. Annamalai made sure that Senthil Balaji gets arrested and is behind bars for atleast 4 to 6 months and in the meantime many other skeleton will fall out and take its shape for necessary action. From a very reliable source in DMK, the party hierarchy is more scared of Annamalai than all other leaders of the opposition put together from different parties. The two reasons for getting threatened and afraid is for the clarity in his deliverance and the eloquent language both in Tamil and English. I am sure both Stalin and EPS of AlADMK are both very poor in both languages Tamil and English. The Tamil for both of them itself is a problem and both are big Zeros in English. The fact every cadre of both Dravidian parties are bound to accept.
The opposition AIADMK was not in a position to digest the growing stature of Annamalai in TN Politics and they were very uncomfortable with him from the day one and even spoke to top BJP Leaders in Delhi to remove him from the State Presidentship for the alliance to continue.
Annamalai the shrewd person kept a check for both, the Delhi BJP leaders including Modi and Shah and to the AIADMK leaders in TN. In the month of March when he was called to Delhi by BJP leaders, he told them in an uncompromising terms that either we should part away from AIADMK and not play a second fiddle otherwise he would step down as BJP President and go back to his farming profession or take up some other job.
In fact as quoted by a senior BJP leader, Modi and Shah were taken by surprise with his move and his power point presentation how BJP can be a formidable force in TN in 2026 and occupy the position of being the main opposition Party. In his presentation he made it clear, even if we don’t win a single seat going alone in 2024, but made sure BJP vote share will increase and make a dent in both Dravidian parties vote share. This presentation made Modi and Shah think on a wider perspective and as usual they gave him the GREEN signal to go his way.
Now how to break the alliance with AIADMK was a well thought out move by Annamalai with the nod from Delhi BJP Leaders. He first touched Annadurai by stating that he was against Sanathana Dharma and he was hiding at the back and promoting eradication of Sanathana Dharma. Then in a polished way he said most of the former TN CM’s had faced prosecution on corruption charges and have been proved guilty. These two lines about Annadurai and Jayalalitha gave AIADMK a handy escape route to part with NDA. AIADMK was just waiting for an opportunity to part with BJP, as in the last assembly elections the Muslim supporters of AIADMK did not vote for them because they were in alliance with BJP. They lost about 48 constituencies on this factor and that pinch and pain is still to be swallowed.
For me as a Political observer for the last four decades this is a good riddance for BJP in TN. BJP has never seen or had such a dynamic leader as Annamalai in the last 40 years in TN. He is now proving to be the Modi of TN as an individual leader on whom people have so much of Love and respect. In the Padayatra which he is doing Enn Makkal, Enn Mann, the response is so huge, i don’t know whether it will convert into votes but for sure has made him a household name in TN. As every individual in India atleast once in a day for good or bad takes the name of Modi the same way every household and its family talk about Annamalai everyday in TN. I always say why Modi is so powerful, because the 1.4 billion population are forced to utter his name for one or the other reason each and everyday and that itself over rides and over takes the Vishnu Sahasranamam chanted for Lord by Sanathan Asthikas. We find a Vishnu Swaroopa Modi in Delhi and the protector of the Universe, Lord Shiva in TN in the form of our Annamalai.
I am sure Annamalai will get a minimum of 2 to 4 seats for BJP going alone in 2024 Lok Sabha election and around 60 to 80 seats in 2026 assembly election. This is how BJP started its growth in Karnataka in 1980’s and became a strong opposition and ruled the state for 12 years in intervals of assembly elections.
Modi and Shah at any cost should back Annamalai, otherwise they will be not in a position to build BJP as a formidable party in TN.
I would request all educated people and youngsters in TN to go with Annamalai than going with the two Dravidian Parties in 2024 for the betterment of the state and free from Freebies and Corruption.
