By India Today News Desk: The Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena mouthpiece Saamana, in its latest editorial, accused the BJP and Maharashtra government of engaging in “corruption and loot”, saying that they should now give posts to fugitive businessmen Mehul Choksi, Nirav Modi, and Vijay Mallya.
The Marathi newspaper, brought out by Shiv Sena (UBT), was referring to the recent big shift in Maharashtra politics as Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Ajit Pawar joined the state government as deputy chief minister. Eight other NCP leaders were also inducted as ministers.
Four of the nine NCP leaders, including Ajit Pawar, are facing charges in money laundering cases which are being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).
In a sarcastic jibe, the Saamana editorial indicated that if the Maharashtra government was appointing leaders with corruption charges, it should also appoint fugitive businessmen such as Mehul Choksi, Nirav Modi, and Vijay Mallya.
“Now only Mehul Choksi, Nirav Modi, Vijay Mallya are left to be included and given posts in the party. One of these three should be appointed as the National Treasurer of the party, the other in NITI Aayog and the third as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of the country. Because corruption, loot, morality are no longer an issue for them,” the editorial read.
